Celebrating New Year’s 2022 in our Vonder cities

What’s going on in London, Dubai, Warsaw and Berlin to bring in New Year’s and celebrate 2022? And what will change because of the pandemic?

You might have had big plans that were cancelled due to Omicron and are wondering what options are still available to you. Either that, or you have no idea what’s going on in your city and just want to get all the information you need. We’ll help you with our guide to celebrating 2022.

New Year’s in London

If you’re living in Vonder’s all inclusive flats to rent in London and are looking for activities to usher in the New Year, it’s important you know about the changes being made.

The first major change is that London’s New Year’s Eve celebration in Trafalgar Square was cancelled. But not to worry - a new, live broadcast will be broadcast on BBC One at midnight. The show will celebrate the major moments of 2021 and what’s to come in 2022. Tune in for an outstanding show!

London New Year’s Day Parade is famous for the spectacle it brings, with over 10,000 performers throughout central London. But for the first time ever, you’ll only be able to see the parade if you buy tickets, which cost £35 . In fact, organisers aren’t even publicising the parade’s exact location this year. This is meant to prevent large crowds from forming. But if you don’t fancy going out at all, you can also watch the entire parade from your couch - it will be live streamed this year for free.

New Year’s in Dubai

If you’re enjoying all-in-one living in Dubai, you’re in luck. The New Year’s fireworks show is still on. The best place to view it is at the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Not only will you get an excellent view of the fireworks, but you’ll also get a laser and lights show there. There are also many restaurants and entertainment options throughout the night, so you’ll have something to do when the fireworks are over. Dubai is ensuring crowd control through an app. If you want to attend, you need to register using the U by Emaar app. This will give you a QR code that allows you access.

New Year’s in Warsaw

What better way to get into the spirit of winter than ice skating? Check out the Old Market Square (Rynek Starego Miasta), where you can ice skate all night with your friends. There’s also music, entertainment, and food kiosks nearby to complete the picture. Although admission is free, you have to pay to rent the ice skates.

The usual fireworks display at midnight is cancelled, but there might still be a party. The biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in Warsaw usually takes place in Defilad Square. From big live performers to its pyrotechnic display, it’s worth seeing. We are still waiting for updates on the party. Stay updated on the rules here

New Year’s in Berlin

If you’re living in Vonder’s furnished apartments for rent in Berlin, you’ll already know that Germany is implementing contact restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid. Although New Year’s won’t be quite what Berliners are used to, there are still ways to celebrate.

The New Year’s Eve party at Brandenburg Gate is one of Europe’s biggest open-air parties, hosting live bands/DJs, huge firework displays, and light and laser shows. This year, the festival will take place in your living room. That’s right - there will be a televised show called “Welcome 2022” at 8:15 pm on December 31 on the TV channel ZDF. “We promise to transport the great New Year’s Eve atmosphere…with a strong programme of exciting guests, interactive audience participation and great entertainment. Stay home. Stay tuned,” said Maiko Heinrich, Managing Director of sib Silvester in Berlin Veranstaltungen GmbH. Learn more here for updates on performances and guest artists.

Additionally, the popular British cabaret sketch “Dinner for One” will be widely broadcast on German television again this year. A famous cult classic, this comedy sketch has become a German New Year’s tradition - and that won’t change this year!
